Emergency jobs scheme

The government and firms will continue to top up the wages of workers who have not been able to return to the workplace full time due to the virus

There are changes to the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) from today

From 1‌‌st September 2020 HMRC will now pay 70% of usual wages up to a cap of £2,187.50 per month for the hours furloughed employees do not work.

 

Chancellor announces some TEMPORARY help for businesses

This purely temporary and limited help is in 5 forms

  1. The introduction of the Job Retention Bonus with eligibility requirements

  2. Incentives to take on new employees/apprentices

  3. A very limited and temporary Eat Out to Help Out scheme

  4. A temporary vat reduction for some of the hospitality trade

  5. A temporary increase in the stamp duty threshold
